02 Nov 15 UTC Autumn, 1903: EC S PIC - BEL
02 Nov 15 UTC Autumn, 1903: Warning: if England helps you in any way make sure that you thank him profusely.

Due to a busy day I forgot to, and have been rewarded with abuse, including this charming message: "I'll go against Germany for the rest of this Game for that. You're fucked." Despite my apologies and, and having pointed out the foolishness of this strategy, it looks as if the sensitive one intends to proceed.
02 Nov 15 UTC Autumn, 1903: Wow, a build phase with no builds.
03 Nov 15 UTC Spring, 1904: no NMRs please
04 Nov 15 UTC Autumn, 1904: Yeah sorry about that. I was in a rush this morning and I forgot, on the way to the airport for business trip. No worries, I won't stuff it up again, and I wont be around for much longer in any case ;-)
05 Nov 15 UTC Autumn, 1904: Where is guildford. wales?
05 Nov 15 UTC Autumn, 1904: It is the county town of Surrey, about 30 miles south west of London.

The name of the game is a quote from The Hitch-hikers Guide to the Galaxy.
05 Nov 15 UTC Autumn, 1904: right... very nice
06 Nov 15 UTC Autumn, 1904: After 50+ Dip games on this website, ive noticed that the map updates Ireland to the same colour as LVP.
06 Nov 15 UTC Spring, 1905: Germans in control of Ireland. Theyd be trying to replace all the good beer with german swill
06 Nov 15 UTC Spring, 1905: Anyone have a fly swatter I got this Italian buzzing around my living room.
07 Nov 15 UTC Autumn, 1905: If flabbergasted. My retreat was to Tunis.
09 Nov 15 UTC Autumn, 1905: I'm not why did you disband you could have threatened Berlin and Munich?
16 Nov 15 UTC Autumn, 1907: Have I said how boring this game is?
16 Nov 15 UTC Autumn, 1907: Well we are playing solely for your entertainment.
16 Nov 15 UTC Autumn, 1907: I think the standard of this Game has been good. England is on the cusp of elimination and I am gone, but to have first Power out in 1907 shows that it has been a tight game. There's been also some good alliances in the south and in the East.

WTA format encourages play along conservative lines for survival.
16 Nov 15 UTC Autumn, 1907: I agree with England that this has been a quality game, no absent or noob players but a solid game.
16 Nov 15 UTC Autumn, 1907: Germany is not going away anytime soon. those holdings in England will take a few fleets to remove
16 Nov 15 UTC Autumn, 1907: Care to sort out a deal russia?
16 Nov 15 UTC Autumn, 1907: Publicly? no
16 Nov 15 UTC Autumn, 1907: What am I chopped liver?
16 Nov 15 UTC Autumn, 1907: No draw would exist without Turkey. fear not my friend. I think he meant a deal regarding German lands
16 Nov 15 UTC Autumn, 1907: Chopped liver? And russias assumption is correct. You are in an extremely good position turkey particularly for a win.
18 Nov 15 UTC Spring, 1908: Some really funny reverse psychology going on in England right now..
25 Nov 15 UTC Moderator: (TheMinisterOfWar): Dear players, I have paused this game because one of the players has encountered a serious problem in real life. If you object to this pause, please send an email to webdipmod@gmail.com. Apologies for the inconvenience.
27 Nov 15 UTC is there any idea how long this pause will be?
27 Nov 15 UTC Not sure but i am unpausing
27 Nov 15 UTC I'm fine with whatever. But it is so irregular I don't know what to think.
27 Nov 15 UTC I confess that I find the morality of this decision very confused. Seven people signup voluntarily to PLAY a GAME, by which we expect to derive pleasure. If more important or pressing things in Life perchance cause us t be unable to participate in a fun game, we leave it and just go Civil Disorder. It cost us nothing to do that. To force all other Players to participate in some period of Pause, for how long. In addition, it robs the affected Player of a Game that may bring some respite from their difficult situation, a moment of lightness and enjoyment and some light moment of distraction from all the pain. Some may call me callous, but forcing six strangers to forcibly abide by another's grief is.....wrong. Its a GAME, remember. The only commitment we made to each other when we signed up was to Play a GAME and have some fun. REGARDS, DAMO the dissenter. This decision is so laden with political correctness, the sort of moral confusion that drags Europe to down an abyss.
27 Nov 15 UTC I disagree with your premise england. However the manner in which the player got the pause is the problem with the current situation. If the initiator stated his reason for a pause and then players agree to it, there isnt a problem. Going to the mods without the consent of the other players is where i have an issue.
27 Nov 15 UTC Agreed^^. Why did the pause have to be anonymous. Whomever should have come to the people involved
27 Nov 15 UTC I had a death in the family this week but the really puzzling thing is... Im not the one who requested a pause either..
27 Nov 15 UTC My condolences Russia. That's really tough and then compounded on the holidays. So sorry
27 Nov 15 UTC Well that leaves the German
27 Nov 15 UTC Since it is just a game I don't care about the pause. It is a little impolite to request the pause through the moderator but am sure whoever did that had a reason that made sense at the time. I'll just imagine the best possible interpretation and let it be.

I'm sorry about your loss, Russia and hope you will be able to provide comfort and receive comfort with your family.
30 Nov 15 UTC how long can we expect this to be paused..
30 Nov 15 UTC I was going to email the moderators but found no way to contact them here.
30 Nov 15 UTC I found the email here in the messages and emailed the moderator. Though am I the only one who thinks emailing moderators ought to be a little more easy?
01 Dec 15 UTC Moderator: (TheMinisterOfWar): Dear all, I see there has been some discussion on here since I paused the game a few days ago. Just to clear up some assumptions: no player approached the mods to request anything. Pausing in real life emergencies a judgement call that mods necessarily need to make. For this reason, we always give all players the opportunity to mail us to object to the pause. In this case, nobody has done so.

The absent player has told me to be resuming games today, so this should be resolved. If this does not happen, please let us know on the email address stated above: webdipmod@gmail.com.
02 Dec 15 UTC I am fine with just drawing this game.
02 Dec 15 UTC As do i.
02 Dec 15 UTC I dont really care either way. Im not trying to solo so it doesnt matter if italy and germany have a share I guess?
02 Dec 15 UTC that's very big of you Russia, and in the holiday spirit. Nice :))
02 Dec 15 UTC Moderator: (TheMinisterOfWar): Dear all, the player says he'll return today so I'm unpausing the game. Any questions, please let us know on webdipmod@gmail.com.
02 Dec 15 UTC my draw is in BTW
02 Dec 15 UTC I'm not worried about it either. I am going to retire after this game anyway. I play too much and need a long break.

Though if Germany never shows up it would take a while for the draw to go through.
02 Dec 15 UTC Hi all - my apologies for going AWOL. A bout of serious illness and then some urgent RL stuff overwhelmed me.
02 Dec 15 UTC gg all. no shame in a draw! enjoy
02 Dec 15 UTC hope you are better
02 Dec 15 UTC No worries, it's just a game. I hope things are better now.
