22 Nov 14 UTC Spring, 1901: Welcome all, to the start of a series I have called Pure Dip because I believe the Winner Take All format to be the true Dip that we played when we was all teenage kids, and with the fold out Boards and the plAstic unit chips. Ah, they the days, sitting in a holiday house with a few mates, some beers and ciggies and the Dip Board. Please do enjoy.....regards, player of Austria.
22 Nov 14 UTC Spring, 1901: To a great game!
23 Nov 14 UTC Spring, 1901: Beers and ciggies and Diplomacy when we were teenage kids?? :P
23 Nov 14 UTC Spring, 1901: Nah, I mean like 18....lol.
23 Nov 14 UTC Spring, 1901: It appears we may have an NMR in Italy - would be extremely disappointing..
23 Nov 14 UTC Autumn, 1901: So - cancel??
12 Dec 14 UTC Hi All, thanks for the Game and well played to Germany. The Game will be win this Year by Germany. I have asked Germany to complete the 18th SC to win the Game. Germany deserves to win this Game. He had played extremely well, conducting an effective alliance with Franvce and ultimately taking advantage of France's mistake of over-extending to the South.
This is also my EOG. I would point out the Russia missed a crucial opportunity in the mid Game to convoy to EDI. I brokered the deal and it would have completely altered the complexion of the North. This failed to materialise however giving Germany the victory of the North. Turkey was a stubborn lone wolf actor all.along but did well to aggravate and hand on. France, you did well but you were diplomaticallly by getting Austria offside in the South. Well played though, a well deserved 2nd place. Bad luck ti England who I think was a good played but was bundled.out early by a very effective EF Sealion attack.
Italy - you were hopeless, please don't ever join one of my PURE DIP series ever again. Hah !
Thanks for joining all and I hope to see you on a Board soon. Regards, Damo player of Austria.
12 Dec 14 UTC I appreciate the game Austria. I tried diplomacy but I have found with Turkey if you can't break out early the game is hopeless, and none of my natural allies would allow me to. Nonetheless I would gladly join one of your games again :)
13 Dec 14 UTC Well the game will be over if Germany files orders
13 Dec 14 UTC It seems that rumours of the games ending are premature !
13 Dec 14 UTC Thanks for a good game all. Looking forward to more PureDip games set up by damo :)
England - I think was a little inexperienced - it showed and thus I was able to take advantage of him with France.
France - was a wonderful ally - he is a very good player, had a great partnership going and he was truly a pleasure to work with. He made the mistake however, of trusting me too much - letting me expand too quickly, leaving Bel and York exposed for me to take advantage of whenever I wanted to etc. France should have made me DMZ North Sea (as I had no need for being there other than stabbing F) and he should have kept an army in Pic atleast. He should have been careful and not trusted me so blindly - Everyone plays to win in Diplomacy and he should have anticipated a late stab to take the solo.
Italy - less said the better - but in his defense - the only NMR of the game hampered his chances and put him in a bad position. However, he made some truly mystifying decisions - when F built a fleet in Mar, Italy - instead of moving to Pied, attacked Austria!!! And then he built an ARMY in Naples when F was in Tyr Sea!!
Turkey - All game, he has not said a word to me. I messaged him again and again and he never responded with even a Hello. Apparently, he was equally taciturn with other players. Turkey, the game is Diplomacy and you have to talk. There are gunboat games if you don't like the negotiation part but there is no point playing a FP game if you won't talk. I dunno what you expected when you start attacking A and R together without talking to anyone.
Russia - made a mistake by letting me enter the Baltic in the first place. My fleet build in Berlin should have set off alarm bells and made him do everything necessary to rally others against me - but after an initial bounce I managed to convince him of my good intentions before launching a fierce offensive.

Austria - You knew T was hardly talking - I am surprised you moved away and allowed him to stab you. When A moved to Bohemia in Aut 1902, I was in a spot of trouble - but the Turkish stab was the single most important factor in consolidating my position. Since T wasn't talking, I had nothing to do with the timing of the stab - it was a massive slice of luck that really helped.
I will add that I think A might have been able to stop my solo if he had helped Russia build a stalemate line covering Boh, Ukr, Gal, Sevas etc. But I was lucky that France had angered A and so had T and luckily was able to use that to my advantage.
A is obviously a really good player though and was unfortunate that F and G managed to eliminate E so early while he got stuck in the Balkans with T.

Thanks again everyone. Looking forward to more games with you all.
