23 Jan 14 UTC Autumn, 1994: Typical. France plants a white flag before I even get to finish my beer.
23 Jan 14 UTC Autumn, 1994: France is home to fashion. Maybe they're just being fashionably late to the party.
23 Jan 14 UTC Autumn, 1994: With France it looks like It's going to be 1870 all over again...
23 Jan 14 UTC Autumn, 1994: Otto Von Bismarck: Who called?
23 Jan 14 UTC Autumn, 1994: Hey, ya, could you maybe just send back all those artifacts Napoleon stole from from my people?
24 Jan 14 UTC Autumn, 1994: If Egypt and France clicked "Ready", we could get these builds moving...
25 Jan 14 UTC Spring, 1995: A lot of people who haven't entered orders yet...
27 Jan 14 UTC Autumn, 1995: You miss one move and it's WWII all over again...
27 Jan 14 UTC Autumn, 1995: So long Poland. Your perogies will be missed.
27 Jan 14 UTC Autumn, 1995: Mazurek Dąbrowskiego
27 Jan 14 UTC Autumn, 1995: Take some solace in the fact that, technically, you lasted longer than France. ;)
27 Jan 14 UTC Autumn, 1995: That language is now extinct.
27 Jan 14 UTC Autumn, 1995: Everyone lasts longer than France. I am writing to the webdiplomacy people to change their territories to white, it's even easier to surrender.
29 Jan 14 UTC Spring, 1996: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51kUaotbe6L._SL500_AA300_.jpg
29 Jan 14 UTC Autumn, 1996: Yes, we will be needing that very soon.
29 Jan 14 UTC Autumn, 1996: Я говорю по-русски уже
30 Jan 14 UTC Autumn, 1996: I'd just like to take a moment to publicly tip my hat to Turkey. They had a rough opening -- attacked on three fronts!! -- but didn't fold, even after losing some home SCs. Instead, they kept playing, didn't give up, and appear (IMO) to have survived long enough to see the tide turn.

That sort of tenacity is what I love to see in a Diplomacy game.

Wish I could say the same about some other players here... ;)
30 Jan 14 UTC Autumn, 1996: This just goes to show what happens when you get forced into doing work at work. I have let the people of Russia down. Mne ochen' zhal'
30 Jan 14 UTC Autumn, 1996: France is playing it smart, waiting for Allies to land :)
31 Jan 14 UTC Autumn, 1996: New version of this game needs bombers so I could napalm Cairo for not submitting builds right after he submitted retreats.
06 Feb 14 UTC Spring, 1998: And Egypt does it again. Thought that was over once the game marked them as "left", but apparently they checked back in, which reverted their status.
06 Feb 14 UTC Spring, 1998: The 10th Crusade seems to be forming...
06 Feb 14 UTC Spring, 1998: Seriously, does anybody a) know who Egypt is, and b) mind popping over to their desk and politely asking them to enter a bloody retreat order so we don't have to sit around for hours?
06 Feb 14 UTC Autumn, 1998: Apparently Egypt doesn't work with the rest of us, so we can't go around and physically slap them. On a related note, I got an email from France this morning apologising because they totally forgot that they were playing.

Here it is for prosperity:

"
Subject: DIPLOMACY!!!

I just totally forgot.. until now even.. holy crap.. I am sure you noticed already...
I suck man, I hate it when people do that. :(
Apologies
"
07 Feb 14 UTC Autumn, 1998: It's funny because it's France. :)
10 Feb 14 UTC Autumn, 1999: Egypt!!! Seriously? Man, you are screwing with us. Not cool.
20 Feb 14 UTC Spring, 2002: **Urgent News** The 2014 Winter Olympics have been cancelled due to the downfall of Russia. Go home, athletes, your safety is no longer being kept by the Russian government. Those of you who were competing from Britain, Germany or Italy, just stay put, your countries are coming to you instead.
21 Feb 14 UTC Autumn, 2002: Awesome
23 Feb 14 UTC Spring, 2003: So, I'm going away on vacation on Wednesday, for a week. I wasn't even going to mention it since I assumed that I would simply continue playing from there. However, that was before I found out how much our resort charges for Internet access. (As much as I'm enjoying this game, it's not worth a couple hundred bucks.)

I may have a sub lined up who can babysit for me while I'm away, a friend who's played before (but not in this game), but I wanted to leave it up to you folks what to do. If you want to continue playing it out, that's fine; I'll bring my sub up to speed with my plans and strategy, but you won't technically be playing against "me". Or we can pause. Or we can draw...although I'd rather not do that since I don't believe the board is properly stalemated yet.

Thoughts?

(And I realize this is partly my own fault by deciding to go for the solo, when otherwise it probably would have wrapped up by now.)
23 Feb 14 UTC Spring, 2003: Well as someone who's only in because of the (current) good graces of Italy I vote for an immediate draw!
23 Feb 14 UTC Spring, 2003: I'm easy going. I'll go ahead and click draw, but it's looking like we'll either end in a 2 or 3v1 stalemate or else Italy will break through somewhere. Not sure which, but I've had a good time regardless.
24 Feb 14 UTC Spring, 2003: It's been a good game, and it was a lot of fun. I'm fine with either pausing or drawing. Not too hot on the third option. Italy, you can make the final call, as it looks like Spain and Britain don't mind either.
24 Feb 14 UTC Autumn, 2003: Well, I'm really curious to see how things play out from here, so I say pause...for now.

If, when I come back in a week, you guys have lost interest in continuing, then I'll add my draw vote and we'll divvy it up.

I'd like to finish the leftover Turkey (heh) before adding my vote either way.
24 Feb 14 UTC Autumn, 2003: Fair enough. Pause after this year's build phase?
24 Feb 14 UTC Autumn, 2003: Sure.
24 Feb 14 UTC Autumn, 2003: The fact that Turkey has come back and entered a move is brilliant. Possibly trying to play spoiler right to the end...my hat is off to you, sir.
24 Feb 14 UTC Autumn, 2003: (Or madam.)
25 Feb 14 UTC Autumn, 2003: Good game, Turkey. I mean that in all sincerity.
26 Feb 14 UTC Spring, 2004: We'd talked about a week's pause, but I'm seeing 24h. Am I wrong?
26 Feb 14 UTC Spring, 2004: 24 hours after we unpause. Once Italy comes back, we all vote to unpause, and after the last person votes, we still have 24 hours.
06 Mar 14 UTC Spring, 2004: I'm back.
06 Mar 14 UTC Spring, 2004: And I've decided to move all my troops, my HQ, and my entire empire to the Bahamas. Way nicer there than anywhere on this map. ;)
06 Mar 14 UTC Spring, 2004: Welcome back :) Took me a while to wrap my head around this map again. I'm ready to go :)
08 Mar 14 UTC Autumn, 2004: Italy, could you color in West Sahara and Anadolia, please?
08 Mar 14 UTC Autumn, 2004: Only if somebody goes and colors in Iceland. :)
