Autumn, 2006: [Quebec]:Haven't you got some kangaroos to look after? What are you doing up this way?! lol
Autumn, 2006: [Quebec]:And speaking of up north, aren't you Ghanaians a bit chilly up in Greenland?
Autumn, 2006: [USA]:I think Quebec is getting nervous...
Autumn, 2006: [Ghana]:I'm alright, thanks for asking though
Autumn, 2006: [Quebec]:Keep an eye on those kangaroos, America lol
Autumn, 2006: [Ghana]:Hell hath no fury like an Australian pissed!
Autumn, 2006: [Oz]:LOL If you f*ck with an Australian, you're gonna have a bad time. |
|
Spring, 2007: [Ghana]:Anybody that want to scheme with me, just pm
Spring, 2007: [Ghana]:That was a lot funnier in my head
Autumn, 2007: [Quebec]:Oi! Oz that wasn't very nice. I'm gonna set the guinea pigs on you now.
Autumn, 2007: [Quebec]:poor Brazil!
Autumn, 2007: [Oz]:What?
Autumn, 2007: [Quebec]:Peru..... Guinea pigs..... Oh never mind.....
Spring, 2008: [USA]:personally I think the Americas are a distraction from that large mass of pink building in the east.........
Spring, 2008: [Quebec]:.....and the large mass of light blue down south...
Spring, 2008: [Western-Canada]:That's true
Spring, 2008: [Ghana]:Well I hope my experience serves a lesson to all of you
Spring, 2008: [Near-East]:You mean your experience of lying to me over and over about peace in Europe?
Spring, 2008: [Ghana]:I never said I wanted peace I Europe, I said I wanted security obviously you couldn't provide.
Spring, 2008: [Ghana]:So I had to take Mediterranean, you could always have Europe without the fleet's that was your call I Don blame you for it
Spring, 2008: [Near-East]:Liar. Fri 10 PM Spring, 2006: [You]:Can you quit attacking the Mediterranean then? ~Fri 09 PM Spring, 2006: [Ghana]:when was I? Fri 10 PM Spring, 2006: [You]:Autumn 2004 ~Fri 10 PM Spring, 2006: [Ghana]:ahh europe was still whole then, now I'm just happy if france dont fall Sat 12 AM Spring, 2006: [You]:Fair enough. |
|
Spring, 2008: [Near-East]:And then you attacked the Mediterranean again.
Autumn, 2010: [Oz]:Dafuq happened in Pacific ocean?
Autumn, 2010: [Ghana]:You gotta be more specific than that chief. That's half the oceans!
Autumn, 2010: [USA]:I think it was 3vs3 so convoy was blocked
Autumn, 2010: [Oz]:I know, but it seemed so weird
Spring, 2012: [Near-East]:Wed 02 AM Autumn, 2011: [You]:I would be useful if you're going to fight China, since my fleet is already over here in the Indian Ocean. Could you move your army back to Iraq for now, let me keep Saudi Arabia until we see how this goes? ~Wed 05 AM Autumn, 2011: [Ghana]:I guess it can't hurt me for you to live another turn |
|
Spring, 2012: [Near-East]:Ghana is a serial liar, and will betray and kill you all if given a chance.
Spring, 2012: [Ghana]:Only got hard on for you sweetheart
Spring, 2012: [Near-East]:Sexual harassment now, reporting to mods.
Spring, 2012: [Ghana]:Sorry didn't mean to hurt your feelings
Spring, 2012: [Near-East]:"Hurt feelings" are not the problem. You could call me a loser or something like that and it would be fine. But people shouldn't have to put up with sexual harassment.
Spring, 2012: [Ghana]:Honestly I thought it was just banter, I'm sorry if you took it to mean something else, I had no idea you were a woman. Again sorry.
Spring, 2012: [Near-East]:I'm not a woman. I *am* gay, but my point is just that nobody should have to put up with sexual harassment to play a game - not even straight men. Hopefully we can drop it now.
Spring, 2012: [Oz]:wat I don't understand what Ghana said He meant he got an erection? |
|
Spring, 2012: [Oz]:English is not my first language, and I don't get why this is "sexual harassment"
Spring, 2012: [Near-East]:Yes, that's what it means. "I have an erection for you, sweetheart" is sexual harassment. Now let's drop it.
Spring, 2012: [Ghana]:literally, that's what it means, but i wasn't being literal. I meant it as in "I'm only after you" esp since I thought I was talking to another straight person, the phrase I used was explicitly sexual but implicitly benign
Spring, 2012: [Near-East]:Right, well, in a 17 player game you should assume 1 or 2 are gay. ;) But I just want to drop it.
Autumn, 2012: [Quebec]:You can't really demand to drop it, NE, since you were the one who played the sexual harrassment card. In an internet environment, where it is more than likely that we are 17 total strangers to each other, unaware of each other's sexual preferences, I don't think sexual harrassment can be an issue. If we all knew you were gay beforehand and one of us said that, you would clearly have a legitimate concern. When the game is finished and I know your ID on this site, if I ever play with you in another game I will know this subject is one to steer slear of. But you can't really complain to the mods abotu something which happened before anyeone was any the wiser.
Autumn, 2012: [Western-Canada]:Why are we still talking about this? Seems... pointless
Autumn, 2012: [Near-East]:Quebec, I really can say we should drop it, and I will do so again. There's two issues here. One is the assumption that sexual harassment is okay if directed at certain targets: straight men. It is not okay; even straight men can legitimately object to being targeted with sexual insults. And they can object to others being targeted with sexual insults. So even if it wasn't irrational to assume that every individual you encounter online is a straight man, it still wouldn't follow that everyone has to accept sexual insults being directed at straight men. Straight men are not "fair game." I thought I already made this clear: "nobody should have to put up with sexual harassment to play a game - not even straight men." The other issue is the irrational assumption that individuals met online are straight men. The fact is that straight men are not the "default setting" of humanity, so other people should not have to declare when we aren't straight men. There isn't a default setting. So it isn't my responsibility to inform you ahead of time that I don't conform to your assumptions. And it isn't my responsibility to remind you ahead of time that such assumptions are irrational. It's your responsibility to try to avoid making irrational assumptions in the first place. Now, I'd still like to drop it. It appears Ghana would like to drop it. That would leave you as the only one still dragging it up, Quebec. Let's drop it. |
|
Autumn, 2012: [Quebec]:Very well. I found it an interesting discussion which has only just started. For the record, I am a straight male with gay, lesbian and bisexual friends, who therefore has some insight into the prejudice they face, and who completely abhors discriminiation. And now, I'll drop it :-) <cyberhandshake>
Autumn, 2012: [Ghana]:*facepalm china*
Autumn, 2012: [Oz]:Hi everyone, I'm going on a 23-hours trip, so I left my orders in "not-ready", but can we vote "pause", please? I don't know when I will have internet.
Autumn, 2012: [China]:yep, why not
Autumn, 2012: [Ghana]:Done
Autumn, 2012: [South-Africa]:So now we just need Brazil.
Spring, 2013: [Oz]:Nevermind. I'm back.
[Oz]:Excellent game. Hope to see you in another battle! |
