Spring, 5: What kind of inspiration are you hoping for?
Spring, 5: The kind that comes with people switching sides to make the game more interesting :-)
Spring, 5: I suspect Rome & Carthage are already finding the game interesting :)
Spring, 5: Very true. I'm not though and I'm moaning about it :) I'll just have to keep at it...
Spring, 5: Woo hoo! | |
Spring, 5: I knew it! | |
Spring, 5: Did Britain switch sides towards the end of World War II just to make it more interesting?
Spring, 5: Nope. Britain didn't back-stab its allies by attacking them either :-)
Spring, 5: Btw, you've both played very well and I'm just peeved that I'm losing :-) It'll be interesting to see how things pan out between Rome/Carthage once Greece and Egypt are out |
|
Spring, 5: Did I miss a turn?
Spring, 5: This looks a lot like Greece Egypt and Persia all missed a turn. How did that happen?
Spring, 5: Egypt has already hit cancel. I missed a turn as I didn't see a way of defending my units without you.. there's no hope for me unless Rome or Carthage suddenly decide they don't like each other any more (unlikely)
Spring, 5: Persia - yes, you missed a turn. Egypt didn't, I don't think? And Greece, you should never not put in orders, even if your allies don't! |
|
Spring, 5: What does everyone fancy playing for the next game? Another five-player game on this map? A seven-player one? (I think I could get two more friends to make up the seven.) Or we could join a 17-player world game? |
|
Spring, 5: > And Greece, you should never not put in orders, even if your allies don't! Really? That's a bit harsh. I think I can pretty much do as I please, cry if I want to etc Another game sounds good |
|

|
Spring, 5: ooops double post - sorry
Spring, 5: If we all join a 17 player world game, can we all work together? That would be cool. Happy to play a 7 player game too.
Spring, 5: I don't mind what we play next. I missed a turn too :(
Autumn, 5: If we played a 17-player game we'd be scattered randomly around the world, so obviously no idea who would be able to ally with each other, could be interesting though...
Autumn, 5: And you're not supposed to ally with friends against strangers - according to the rules...
Autumn, 5: It doesn't say that exactly - it says that you shouldn't ally with friends if it doesn't make sense to do so in the context of the game (if that makes sense). Furthermore it's recommended that you declare to everyone at the beginning of the game if you know any of the other players, which allows others to keep an eye on any potential unsporting behaviour.
Autumn, 5: Yeah, that's what I meant. Ish
Autumn, 5: OK, I've set up a new seven player game here: http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=109951 Password, as usual, is crumpet. I'll wait till all five of you join, then hopefully get two more friends to join (Bob, ask Max!). Once we've filled that one, I'm also going to set up a 17-player one to run at the same time, will let you know. |
|
Autumn, 5: I've joined the other game. Pretty sure Max won't want to play but I'll ask him. Can we go for a draw here? Come on! |
|
Spring, 6: Yeah I vote for a draw! You know you can never defeat me :)
Spring, 6: We should form a pact? With my armies and fleets and your.. erm... your... rubber dinghy in the eastern med we could take over the world!
Spring, 6: Don't worry Egypt, my forces will soon destroy all enemy units from wherever I am to Egypt and shall return Alexandria to its rightful owner... (waking up from a dream) |
|
Spring, 6: Yeah I vote for a draw! You know you can never defeat me :)
Spring, 6: Doh! Why do these messages keep repeating themselves!!
Autumn, 7: Anyone got an idea who we can get for the seventh person for our next game?
Autumn, 7: Am I still here?!?
Autumn, 7: You're holding your own
Autumn, 8: Ha- you're fighting back!
Autumn, 8: Be afraid....
Autumn, 8: I'm afraid of Carthage's incompetence.
Autumn, 8: Are you trying to rile Carthage into attacking you?
Autumn, 8: No, but he'd mess it up anyway if he did.
Autumn, 8: lol | |
Spring, 9: Oops, missed a phase due to severe drunkenness.
Spring, 9: !!!! I'm shocked at you!
Spring, 9: See, irresponsible behaviour. Told you.
Autumn, 9: I'm done. Thanks to the two super powers for wiping out the great Greek civilisation. The world will not be the same. I predict chaos and bad art
Autumn, 9: And less facial hair.
Autumn, 9: I didn't mean to do it, it was an accident.
Autumn, 9: I'm still hoping for a draw....
Autumn, 9: You've also achieved the quite remarkable feat of having a supply centre but no units.
Autumn, 9: Yeah, that was part of my cunning plan.
Well that's that then. | |
Good game all, well played. |
